11 Caring Prayers for All the People of the World

Last Updated on October 19, 2023 by Emma

Do you feel the need to pray for other people in the world? Has God led you to enlarge your prayer focus beyond your family and community?

There are around eight billion people on the planet and God loves each and every one of them, including you.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3.16, NIV).

Scripture doesn’t point to God loving only certain people, but all people.  That means all the people of the world. Perhaps you don’t think much about all of the billions of people on earth much, with all the other stuff going on in your life.

But you’re here now, on this webpage dedicated to praying for all the people of the world. Take that as God leading you to pray for people in a new way.

These 11 caring prayers can help you pray for other humans across the globe in a specific, geographic manner.  You can modify any of these prayers to better fit your focus and emotion.

There are other prayers on this site you can use to help you in your relationship with God.  You may want to pray to get closer to God. Or, you may want to pray about repentance and forgiveness.

We encourage you to bookmark this website so you have a ready resource when you need to pray about almost anything in your life.

We also invite you to share your own prayer requests or comments in the section at the end of this article.  Let God guide you as you pray.

Short Prayer for the People of the World

Dear God, I lift up all the people in the world to you. I just want everyone to know you and worship you as the awesome God you are.  I pray their eyes and hearts will be open to you in the coming days, so your light will shine upon them. May they be open to receiving your grace and love, in every region, and on every continent.  In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Prayer for People in South America

Dear Lord, I come to you in prayer for the people in South America. Whether they are in Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, or any other country there, I pray for their safety and provision. From destructive storms that have raged across the continent, to political oppression, the people there are suffering.

I pray for the churches in South America to be places of refuge and provision. May you break the strongholds that are there. May there be a revival that sweeps across the land throughout South America.  I pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayer for People in Central America

Lord God, I don’t think it is an accident or a coincidence that I have met some people from Central America lately.  I feel my heart burdened to pray for all of the people in Central America, from Panama, all the way up to Belize.

There are different countries and different cultures, yet a somewhat common language there, so I pray that people will communicate with one another.

I pray that your grace and mercy will be seen and heard in the actions of your followers throughout Central America.  I pray that people come alive in your love as they feel your presence with them. I lift this prayer to you in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayer for People in Europe

God in heaven, it breaks my heart when I hear statistics about how so many people are no longer going to church, or even associated with Christianity in Europe.

Whether it’s in Scotland, France, Germany, or any other place in Europe, people are just not having you in their lives.

I pray for the missionaries in Europe, and for the few remaining churches that are thriving with your followers. I pray for an awakening to occur in Europe.

May your Spirit spark people’s hearts to their need for you in their lives. May people in Europe come to a realization of the emptiness within them that can only be filled with Jesus Christ.

I pray this prayer in the name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.

Prayer for People in Eastern Europe

While Eastern Europe is still considered Europe, it really is a region of its own. From Poland and Bulgaria to Ukraine and Belarus, and everywhere in between, the people there face special challenges.

Protect them from threats of invasion, political instability, and general malaise.  I pray for their downward gaze to be lifted up by the realization of Jesus Christ and his saving grace.

I pray for the people of Eastern Europe to feel secure and safe in their homes and in their livelihoods.  I pray for their provision and their future.  I pray this prayer through Jesus Christ, in whom we place our trust, Amen.

Prayer for People in Central Africa

From Gabon to Sudan, from Cameroon to Burundi, and all of the often-ignored countries in between, I pray for the people in Central Africa.  I confess I have trouble even finding these countries on a map, so I feel awkward praying for them.

But I believe I am being led to pray for them and in doing so, coming to a deeper knowledge of their people and their cultures.

I lift up the many missionaries across Central Africa, as they toil, week-in and week-out, in leading people to faith in Christ.

I pray for the many obstacles in the region, from poverty to access to food and health care, to be broken down by your power.  May your grace and mercy be known there, Lord.  I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer for People in Africa

Dear God, Africa is such a massive continent with so many countries, languages, cultures, and people.  The land and the people have been pillaged and manipulated, and abused for years and years.

I pray for all the people of Africa. I pray for them to be safe. I pray for them to be lifted up beyond their circumstances. I pray for their health and their education. I pray for their needs to be provided for each day. I pray for them to have hope for tomorrow, and for the future. I pray that they will come to know Jesus.

I make this prayer through Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayer for People in India

God, it’s hard for me to grasp that there are over a billion people living in India right now.  So many people, with so many needs, amidst drastic poverty and oppression in many places, yet also great wealth and intellectual vigor.

I pray for Jesus Christ to shine as a light in the dark places.  I pray for the people of India to be open to Jesus and his grace.

I pray that closed minds would be opened, and that spiritual forces of darkness would flee in the presence of the light of Christ.   I pray this prayer, not in my own power, but in the power of the name of Jesus Christ, Lord, and Savior, Amen.

Prayer For People in Eastern Asia

Father in heaven, forgive us, the people in the West, for lumping the many different people of Eastern Asia into just being “Asian.”  For myself, I pray that I can learn about the people of Mongolia and Singapore, and how they are unique from the people of Korea, China, Japan, and Vietnam.

I pray for all of these people. I pray for their cultures to reveal a way for each of them to see Jesus and receive Jesus.  I pray for their protection from tsunamis that often hit that area of the world.  I pray for their safety amidst any political posturing by larger powers in the region.

I lift these people to you in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayer for People in the Southern Pacific

Lord, I pray for the people of the Southern Pacific, a massive area spanning much of the ocean.  There are people strung across this necklace of islands, from Tonga and Samoa to Papua New Guinea, including Australia and New Zealand.

Such a rich history and culture to each of these places, Lord, and people in each place who know you, and others who don’t.

I pray for these people. I pray for them to know you for the first time, or in a deeper way. They are far away from me geographically, but you, O God, are as near to them as the air they breathe. May you be known to them. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Prayer for People in the Caribbean

Lord God, I come to you in prayer for the people in the Caribbean.  I must say that I really only thought of the area as a place of resorts and expensive vacations.  I come to you in humility, praying for the people in the islands of the Caribbean.

Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Haiti, Cuba, and all of the other islands have people and cultures that are rich in history.  I pray for them all.

I pray for their protection from the frequent hurricanes that come through every year. I pray for the provision of their physical needs, as outside of the resort areas, there is often crushing poverty.

I lift this prayer in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Final Thoughts

If you can accept that God loves all the people of the world, then you can accept that your prayers for the people of the world matter to God.

We see in scripture that there will be people from every part of the world in heaven, praising and worshiping God:

“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands” (Revelation 7.9, NIV).

Your prayers play a role in God moving in people’s hearts, all across the planet.  Do not ever doubt that your prayers count, or that they lack power.

God hears our prayers, so keep praying, and keep enlarging your outlook on the people of the world.
