Your daughter is getting married–Congratulations! Your little girl is now a woman who will soon be a wife!
Of course you want to pray for her and her marriage and the wedding day, and so much more. May these prayers be a help to you, to get you started in talking to God about your daughter and her marriage.
A wedding is a rite of passage of sorts, but for you, the parent, it’s so much more. This is her officially leaving the nest. This is her beginning her own family. This is her depending on someone else besides you.
There’s a lot of emotions wrapped up in the prelude to the wedding day and the years of marriage after the ceremony. Remember as you pray that your daughter is “clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31.25, NIV).
You’ve raised her in the ways of Christ and can trust in God for her. Trust the scriptural truth that “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised” (Proverbs 31.30, NIV).
Perhaps you have been praying for this moment for years–for her to find the right soulmate and partner in life, for her to know she is loved unconditionally by someone else.
Now you’re here. Your prayers have been answered. And so you continue to pray. We offer the six prayers below for you. Use them in the days leading up to the ceremony. Even better, pray them over your daughter on her wedding day as a special parental blessing.

A Short Prayer for Our Daughter’s Wedding
Blessed Father, I lift my daughter (name) to you right now. She will soon be married as the wedding is later this week. I’m so happy and yet so nervous all at once. I pray for the ceremony and the guests and the food and all the details to come together.
Mostly, I pray for her. Fill her with your peace and joy as she marries the man she loves, and the man who loves her. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for My Daughter’s Marriage
Lord Jesus, my daughter just got married yesterday. The wedding is over and now the marriage has begun. She and (name) spent so much time planning the wedding and all of the details.
Help them both to realize that the wedding was just a day; the marriage is a lifetime of planning and loving and compromising and learning and growing together. May they both put as much energy into their marriage as they did into the wedding itself.
I pray for their love to grow beyond the greeting-card type “we’re so in love” stage, and deepen and mature into a “I’m loving you forever no matter what” stage of real love forged in reality. May they both be more in love with each other years from now than they are right now.
I pray for them to be amazed at how their love grows for each other. Lord, I ask that you help them let go of any selfishness in the months and years ahead. Help them grasp the truth that they have you, and each other, and that’s where love happens.
The excitement of the wedding day is over now, Lord, so give us all rest. And to (name) and our daughter, grant them rest in you, and rest in their love for each other, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
A Short Prayer for Our Daughter’s Marriage
Father God in heaven, I pray for our daughter and (name). They will soon be married and the wedding ceremony will be over. Help them both to embrace the reality of married love each and every day.
I echo the blessing Moses gave to the Hebrew people so long ago and pray it upon my daughter’s marriage: May the Lord bless them and keep them. May the Lord make his face to shine upon them both and be gracious to them. May you, O God, turn your face toward each of them and give them peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer for Daughter’s Wedding Day
Lord God, our daughter’s wedding day is tomorrow. We have finished the rehearsal and the dinner afterwards.
It’s now in the quiet of the evening so I turn my heart to you and pray for tomorrow. Yes, Lord, I want all the details to come together, but mostly I pray you surround her and (name) with peace.
Give them both rest tonight even though their adrenaline is probably spiking right now in anticipation. May the day tomorrow be enveloped by your Spirit, so that each guest and participant feels like they were a part of something special–something founded in true love.
I pray for tomorrow to be glorifying to you O God, as we give you praise and thanks for this wonderful gift of love you have given to our daughter and (name). I thank you for a new son-in-law!
So, Lord, as I rest my head upon my pillow and try to get to sleep, I pray for your love to be known and celebrated tomorrow in our daughter’s wedding. With thanks through Christ, Amen.
Prayer for our Daughter’s Wedding Ceremony
God, the day is here! Our daughter’s wedding day is today and there’s so much happening!
I pray for the caterer and florist to get here on time and to set up everything without any obstacles.
I pray for the photographer and the videographer, that their equipment works properly and all batteries are charged.
I pray for the weather to hold as it’s an outdoor wedding.
I lift up the pastor who’s performing the ceremony, the singer and musicians in the ceremony–may they all have clarity of thought and voice and perform to their best ability.
Lord, even as I pray this prayer, I’m realizing I’m getting caught up in all the details and I want to make sure I enjoy this special day–my daughter is getting married!
So I pray for peace for me and my spouse. Thank you for getting us to this day. Thank you for all the friends and family who are going to be able to be here in person for this celebration. What a blessing to have them all here!
God, I especially pray for my daughter and her soon-to-be husband. In some way, big or small, let there be a moment today that sticks in their mind for them to remember. A moment that is just for them alone.
Thank you for hearing this frenzied prayer, Lord. I ask these things in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Amen.
Prayer for My Daughter’s Fiance on Their Wedding Day
Dear God, my daughter is getting married today to (name). I lift him to you right now in this moment. We have welcomed in like he was our own son–a part of the family.
If he’s like any other groom, he’s probably a little nervous but doesn’t want to show it. Give him a sense of calm in his heart. Give him peace in his thoughts as he focuses on the reality that he’s marrying the woman he loves.
We were so happy when they got engaged as it was clear to both us that our daughter had found a good man who loves Jesus and cares for her. I pray for him to know that he is loved by us. We want him to know we’re here for him.
So, Lord I pray for you to settle his nerves, grant him a joy in his heart on this special day, the most important day of his life to date. I ask these things for (name) in the name of the One who Is Love, Jesus Christ, Amen.
Concluding Thoughts
You did it! You raised your child from toddler to teenager into adulthood. She is now getting married and embarking on her own new life with her husband.
While it’s natural to worry a little, fret now, for you will always be her parents. Rest in the peace and strength of this eternal truth, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22.6, NIV).
The wedding may soon be coming or has recently happened and you’ve been praying. We encourage you to continue to pray for your daughter. Pray for her wedding day, and her married life after the ceremony is over and the guests have gone.
You can revel in the joy that “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him” (Psalms 127.3, NIV). You have a great reward in your daughter. As she gets married and lives into newlywed life, your love and support continue to go with her.
