Every day is a gift from God. It is a new opportunity to experience His love and mercy, to grow in your faith, and to make a difference in the world. When you wake up in the morning, take a moment to thank God for the gift of another day to live.
Regardless of what has happened in your life recently, it is always a good idea to come to God in prayer and give thanks for what you do have, for how God has cared for you, for the simple reality of another day of life. I’d like to give you some helpful things to remember each and every day.
- Life is a precious gift. The Bible says that you are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). This means that you are valuable and worthy of love. Just the fact that you are alive is a miracle.
- Every day is a new opportunity to experience God’s love and mercy. Each day, God gives you fresh grace and new opportunities to start over. He loves you unconditionally, and He wants to have a relationship with you.
- Every day is a new opportunity to grow in your faith. As you walk through life, you will face challenges and trials. But God uses these experiences to help you grow in your faith and to become more like Christ.
- Every day is a new opportunity to make a difference in your circle of people. God has created you with unique gifts and talents. He wants you to use those gifts to make a difference in your community and to share His love with others.
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” (Psalm 23.1-3, KJV).
When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing you think about? Do you start dreading the day ahead, or do you take a moment to be thankful for the gift of another day to live?
As Christians, we know that every day is a gift from God. He has given us life, and He has given us the opportunity to make a difference in the world. That is why it is so important to be thankful to God for another day to live. The best way to do that is through prayer.

Dear God in heaven, I am so thankful to be alive today. I know that I should not have survived that car accident, but You spared my life. I am so grateful for Your mercy and grace.
I know that I am not worthy of Your love and kindness, but You continue to bless me every day. I am so thankful for Your forgiveness and for the gift of new life. I am just so grateful to have another day of life and breath.

Lord God, it has been a nightmare of a week at work. It was tough, but I made it through. I am so grateful for Your strength and support. I know that I can’t do anything on my own. I need You every day. Thank You for being my constant companion and for helping me through the tough times.
I promise to continue to work hard and to do my best at my job. I am focused on today, what is right in front of me. I ask that You help me to be a light to my coworkers and to glorify You in everything I do. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Prayer To Thank God After A Divorce Is Finalized
Father God, I never thought that something like this would happen, but I am finally through my divorce. It was finalized this morning, according to my lawyer. I am a bit numb, but I am so grateful for Your healing and comfort.
I know that You are the God of all comfort, and You have been with me every step of the way. Thank You for Your love and support. This day is not just another day for me; this is a day where my status and identity have changed.
Please help me to trust You with my future and to allow You to lead me. I also pray that You would help me to be a good parent to my children and that I would glorify You in everything I do as I live into this new reality. I give you thanks just to have this day to breathe and think and look ahead. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Prayer Thank God After Getting Laid Off
Dear God, I am so thankful for another day to live. I know that I was laid off from my job yesterday, but I am still grateful for Your provision. I am disappointed and a little afraid because I don’t know how or when I’ll find another job.
I trust that You have a plan for my life, and I trust You to lead me. Thank You for Your love and peace. I also pray that You would help me to find a new job soon so that I can provide for my family. Guide me to where I can’t see just yet. In the strong name of Jesus, my Provider, Amen.
Prayer To Thank God After A Bad Storm
Lord God, we survived! I am so full of gratitude just to have another day to live and breathe and love my family. My town was hit by a damaging storm yesterday, but I am grateful that my family and I are safe. I am so thankful for Your protection. You were literally a shelter in the time of the storm.
I want to help my neighbors and community recover from the storm, so guide me to opportunities to help and serve. I also pray that You would help us to be prepared for the next storm. I give you thanks through Jesus Christ, Amen.
Final Thoughts
Sometimes life can be overwhelming and you can easily think that making it to tomorrow is a high mountain to climb. You’re just focused on what’s in front of you. Maybe you’ve had a rough week, or perhaps there’s been some trauma or bad experience recently. Whatever the case may be, I urge you to talk to God about the gift of this day you have right now.
These seven hopeful prayers to thank God for another day are focused on the present, with a gratitude for having another 24 hours on the clock to live and try to move forward with your situation. Each prayer is written in a general manner so feel free to alter the wording as you need to, so you can make the prayer your own.
I recommend also making use of thankful prayers for a new month, and prayers for positive outcomes. This site exists to help you grow closer to God, so make use of it on a regular basis!
“Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving and proclaim your vows to the Most High. Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will glorify me” (Psalm 50.14-15, NIV).
Remember that God loves you. The Bible says that “God is love” (1 John 4:8). He loves you unconditionally and perfectly. And because He loves you, He has given you the gift of another day.
You are alive. The gift of life is precious. Not everyone is alive today. So be thankful that you are breathing and that you have the opportunity to live another day. This means you have opportunities, however small they may seem right now.
