9 Bedtime Prayers for Teens

Last Updated on October 19, 2023 by Emma

Being a teenager is hard and complicated. It is an emotional roller coaster, filled with discovering who God has made you to be. I think it is very important to keep God close to your heart during this time in your life. The world will be giving you every opportunity to turn away from him, praying at night can help give you strength for these daily fights and stay on the path.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 teaches us to stand together “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” God wants us to be the light in the darkness. Our Lord, wants us to pour love onto one another even in times of distress.

I want to challenge you to pick one person each day to show God’s grace. When you become irritated or upset, show them mercy and forgiveness. In building each other up, we make the evil of the world dimmer.

I want to give you praise for taking the time to pray to our, Lord. It is a very mature and grown-up decision to follow Christ, especially when those around you are not doing the same. Stay strong in your faith and know there are others out there praying for you too. If you have any specific bedtime prayer for teen requests, leave them in the comments below.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Wisdom:

Dear Lord, I ask that you bless me tonight before I rest with wisdom. Your great wisdom, Lord, I ask that you gift me just a small piece.

Father, I ask for your wisdom because I know it can guide me in the right direction. It can show me which path to take in order to best serve you.

Father, I am surrounded by choices each day. It is an overwhelming feeling. I ask that your wisdom shows me a clear choice, Lord. I ask that I never be in question on what I should or should not do.

Father, please bless me with wisdom in my studies. I ask for it in my academic studies, Lord, and also in my biblical studies. I wish to read the words on pages of a text book and comprehend its true meaning through your eyes. I want to read the Bible and understand each verse as it is written.

Thank you for being with me, Lord, for always standing by my side. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Peer Pressure:

Heavenly Father, I feel as though I am being surrounded by great evil today. I know it is not you, Lord. That you would never make me feel trapped in such a way.

I ask that you surround me in the coming days with your love instead, Lord. I ask that you lift away this pressure and replace it with peace.

Lord, I need your help. I need the words to stand up to my peers. I need a message that will help me escape from the pressure I am under. Lord, I ask that you bring my friends to school with an understanding heart. I ask that you let them hear my words and let it go.

Father, I ask that you give me new company. I ask that you bring other people into my life that I can turn to instead of the people I am now calling friend. Lord, I know these people are out there. Help me see them. Help me walk toward the light that you give them and escape the heaviness that I am now being surrounded by.

Thank you for hearing me, Father, bless me with sight to see what needs to come next. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Making Good Choices:

Father, I know I am going to be presented with choices that would go against who I am as a person in your light. I know these choices are not coming from you, Lord. I ask that you take them away tonight. I ask that you take away this opportunity and guard me from it every happening again.

Lord, I know that we are all tested with temptation. I know that you are the only perfect person. I ask that you guide me in my decision making. Help me strive to be like you, Lord. Give me the knowledge to make each choice, a good choice.

Father, I want to pray for my friends around me. I ask that you also guide them in their decision making. Help them see when a choice is harmful. Help them see when a choice is helpful. Give us all the sense to know what path we are walking down with each choice. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Integrity:

Dear Lord, I ask that you fill my heart with integrity tonight and in the coming days. I ask that you show me the path of forgiveness you have forged for us all. Help me follow this path, Lord. Help me strive to be as good as you.

Father, I ask that my actions mimic yours. That I forgive all who come against me. That I help everyone in need. Lord, help me show others your love through my actions. Help me guide those who are wavering back into your greatness.

Lord, I ask that you give me the strength to persevere with integrity. Help me stand up to the evil that surrounds me. Do not let it compromise my life, Lord.

Please watch over me, Lord. I know this is an impossible mission, but I want to try my best. Thank you for always forgiving me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Friendship:

Dear Lord, I have been blessed in so many ways. I know you are with me as I prepare for bed, Lord, but I cannot help that today I felt alone.

You taught us, Lord to surround ourselves with community. I ask that you send that community my way tomorrow, Father. Guide me in their direction so that I can meet them half way.

I want friendships that are based around you, Lord. I want to know that when I stop and pray those around me will bow their heads as well.

Making friends is not something that I do easily. I struggle to find my place in the teenage world I am currently living in. I need your gracious help, Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Temptation:

Dear Lord, I have come to you to ask you to remove the temptation that surrounds me. Father, I know this is a part of life, I know that it is something I must overcome, but I need help.

Lord, help me find the strength I need to do, what your word has taught me, is right. Help me be respectful to others and myself, Lord. Help me stay away from people or places that may encourage this temptation to succeed, Father.

As I prepare for sleep, I need you to walk with me, Lord. I need you to shield my eyes and ears from anything that may feed the temptation inside of me. Thank you for being there for me, Lord. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Love:

Dear Lord, I felt alone today. I feel like I am missing a piece of me and I cannot explain where this grief is coming from. Lord, I ask you to put love into my life. There are so many different forms of it, Lord. I ask that you give me a special love that I will forever cherish.

Father, I know that your love is most important. Thank you for loving me. Allow me the opportunity to love another the way that you love me. Help me find someone that I can learn to give grace and to forgive. Father, help me find someone that brings me joy in the same way that all of your people bring you joy.

I appreciate you, Lord. I thank you for guiding me down this journey of love. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Identity:

Father, I have been feeling lost. I know that I am a person of God, but I do not know who I am in this world you have created for us. Father, tonight before I lay down to rest I ask that you help me find my identity. Show me who you have created me to be.

Father, I know you have a path for me. I know that I will learn who I am down this path. I ask that you open the door that will lead me down this path, Lord. I ask that you grant me access to your plan for me.

Lord, I know my identity may change as your will does. I know I may be one person for a while and then be sent in a different direction. I just ask that you give me my current direction, Lord. I promise to cherish and nourish it. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Teen Bedtime Prayer for Hope:

Dear Lord, this world I am living in is scary. The dread and fear can be consuming. It seems to be the only thing anyone wants to talk about in my day-to-day life.

Father, I am here tonight at my bed to ask you to bring hope into my world. Please allow us all to see the little things you have blessed us with. Allow myself and my peers to climb out of the darkness.

Lord, I ask that you surround me with hope tomorrow. Use me as a vessel of light spreading hope everywhere I go. Give me the words to grant others hope, Lord. Please allow me to lighten their loads and remind them to live for you and not in fear. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Concluding Thoughts:

Your best and purest path to guidance is through God. I want to commend you for praying for yourself and those around you.

Galatians 6:9 reads “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” I firmly believe that if you pray, God hears you. He wants you to put all of your weight on him. He wants you to lead a life of purity through him. I believe he will reward you at the perfect time.

Try to remember that only Jesus has come to earth and been able to be perfection. Do not focus on the ways you have strayed from our Lord’s path, but instead focus on the future you are still presented with and ask for forgiveness along the way.

Know that you can turn to God for the issues in your life big or small. Whether that’s a prayer for better grades or guidance for your first time behind the wheel, God is listening to your prayers.
