15 Prayers For Tweens

Last Updated on November 28, 2023 by Emma

Well, you have a tween in your life, me too. This season can be very frustrating and confusing for them and us. They are growing and so are their experiences, emotions, and their reactions. Many parents will start to see the rebellious side of their tweens and future teens coming out.

Over the past several years I have had the privilege to lead, disciple, and pray for tweens in my life. These are just a few of the prayers I prayed throughout the year.

Praying for your tween at night is very important. The day’s events and emotions are fresh in your mind, so you can take them right to God. He loves to hear from you and is not surprised by your tween.

I hope these prayers resonate with you as you pray for your tweens. I know there are so many prayers we could pray for tweens at night, but I pray these prayers will help you begin.

We’ve organized these prayers into two sections. First, are prayers for parents and loved ones of tweens. Second, are prayers designed to be relevant for tweens so that they can pray on their own?

Please feel free to comment below with your prayer request for your tweens, we would love to be praying with you during this season.

Prayers For Loved Ones Of Tweens To Pray

We’ll start by sharing prayers that are relevant to parents and loved ones of tweens.

Briefly Praying For A Tween

Father, I pray for my tween tonight. You know her heart you know where her struggles are you know what she’s passionate about you can see her future and you hold it in your hands.

I thank you so much for her. She is so uniquely made. You are so good for allowing me to be part of her life.

This time in her life seems new and confusing. It’s this in between a little girl and a young woman. Not only is her body changing but her thoughts and her actions.

I pray tonight she goes to bed with thoughts of you on her mind. Help her to know what a difference it makes to be part of your family.

Thank you Jesus for coming and dying not only for my sins but for my tween too. Thank you for loving her, I pray, you hold her close her entire life. Jesus’ name, Amen

Prayer For Tween’s Rest

Tonight I pray that my tween will get a good night’s rest. It seems like there’s a desire for her to stay up later yet her body seems to need more and more sleep. I pray you give her wisdom and self-control to know when to go to bed.

It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. (Psalm 127:2 ESV)

I pray tonight that you help her would take all his anxiety for tomorrow away. That you would allow her to let tomorrow worry for itself. Help her to trust in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Tween Who Does Not Know Jesus As Lord

Lord my tween seems out of control. Please help them to be less selfish, and to know that this life is not all about them but rather all about you.

Please help me to boldly teach them the Gospel. Help me to be a good example of what love is. Give me the wisdom to know how to discipline at this age. Help me to guide them to know you.

Lord, I pray that you lead them to some good friends. I pray that they would ignore hateful speech and cling to kind friends.

Let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins. (James 5:20 ESV)

Lord my tween seems to follow the cultural temptations of the day please give me the right words to confront the sin that’s in their lives so they can repent. Help them see that they need you as their savior.

Tonight, I cry out to you to save my tween. I pray this not because I have any right on my own, but because through Christ we can be saved. It’s in his name I pray, Amen.

Prayer For Tweens Identity

Tonight, God, I pray that she finds her identity in you. Lord, she seeks to know where she belongs and fits in and what she should be doing. But I pray that she finds all those answers in you.

God, Thank you that you have already told her that she belongs to you, and she fits into your family, she has a beautiful purpose to honor and glory for you. I pray she finds great comfort and joy knowing that she is yours.

Lord, as she lays her head down give her peace in the truth that she is yours. I pray this in your powerful name, Amen.

Prayer For Tweens Maturity

Lord, in this changing season of her life, not only is her body maturing but you are helping her grow. It seems like overnight they grow, so please be with them tonight.

Lord, I pray that you mature her mind. Help the gospel not just be a story to her but the truth that changes her life forever. Help her to see how the gospel affects all areas of her life and that it’s at the core of who she is.

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:1-2 ESV)

Tonight as she thinks of tomorrow let them be thoughts focused on you. Help her to seek after you and set her mind on you. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Prayer Of Thanksgiving For Tweens Redeemed Life

Holy Spirit I thank you for leading this tween to you and for redeeming her.  I am so grateful to see how you challenge her to grow and convict her when she’s wrong. What a blessing it is to know that she is in your hands.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. (Colossians 3:15 ESV)

I give you thanks for the peace I have because you rule in her hearts.

Lord, I pray that you never let her go. Thank you for the promise of hope and a future because she belongs to you. I pray this all in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Tween’s Future

Lord, as I pray tonight for my tween I may worry about her future. Help me to trust in you.

Lord, tonight I want to pray for her future.  I want to pray for her time in college and in her first job, that it would be a time where she can grow and learn more about who you’ve created her to be. I want to pray that you are protecting and growing and leading her future husband.

I thank you for creating her so uniquely and for giving her amazing gifts and talents. I cannot wait to see how you use her to further your kingdom. Help her as she begins to think about what she wants to do in the future she begins by coming to you first.

Help her not to worry about her future. Help her to be patient and wait on you. Help her to know more about who you are.

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 ESV)

Lord, I pray as she becomes a mom and struggles with her own sins and Temptations that you sanctify her. That you continue to make her more and more like you.

God, direct each of her steps. I have no clue what her future will bring, but you do. I just pray no matter what her future holds that she knows you in a way that transforms her life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Tweens Physical Health

Lord, I pray for my tween tonight. I pray that you continue to strengthen his little body. Boys are so active and put a strain on their bodies. He is physically growing, so please keep him strong and healthy.

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. (3 John 1:2 ESV)

While I pray for his health and strength my most fervent prayer is that his relationship with you will be healthy. That he will know who you truly are, and what you have called him to.

Lord, please give him the health to carry that out, your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Tween’s Friends

God, I pray for his friends and the friendships he will make. I pray that he will be a light in some very dark places. At this age, it seems like the temptation for inappropriate behavior in the locker room and crude conversations seem to be what is funny. I pray that his speech is honoring to you and that his actions would convey that he cares.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV)

I pray that my tween recognizes how his friends impact him and that you give him the wisdom to know when and how to step away from those friendships.

I pray you to give him friends who encourage him in his walk with you. Even at this young age helps them to sharpen one another. We pray this all in your name, Amen.

Prayer For My Lonely Tween

Lord, you know how hard it is this season of life and how lonely it can be. Help her to know that you are all that she needs to help her to find comfort in you.

No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15 ESV)

Thank you for calling my daughter to yourself. Give her comfort tonight in your friendship with her.

Lord, then out of the overflow of confidence in her relationship with you, will you provide good, healthy relationships for her?

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayers For A Tween To Pray

We are glad you found this page to help you pray to God. He is real and alive and longs to hear from you.

We know this time in life can be frustrating, confusing, and exciting all at the same time. We hope that you find rest and comfort in knowing God has created you, has a purpose for you, and wants to know you. These prayers are for you to pray to God, but don’t feel like you have to just pray these prayers, feel free to let Him know anything that is on your mind.

God, I’m A Tween And I Need Help With Friends

God, my friends are hurting me right now. I don’t understand why they seem nice one moment and not the next. I wish I could go back to elementary school when friendships seemed easier. But I know we don’t go back in time but only forward, so help me as I move forward with friendships.

God, help me to be a good friend, but to choose my good friends wisely. Help me to see what makes a good friend. If I need to not have a friend anymore, help me to do that in a way that is kind.

God, thank you for being a friend that is always there. You will never leave me. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, I’m a Tween And I’ve Messed Up

God, I’ve made a big mistake. My mistake has hurt others, it has hurt me and I know it has hurt you. I’m sorry that I’ve messed up, please forgive me.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23-24 ESV)

I know that I can never do everything right. God, I am so thankful for Jesus and the gift of saving me, through His death on the cross. Help me to live a life, where I mess up less and less and become more and more like Jesus. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, I’m A Tween And My Parents Are Driving Me Nuts

God, my parents are crazy. Why do they not understand me or what is going on in my life? Why do they always think they are right and I’m wrong? I know I’m supposed to obey and honor them but I need help!

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” (Ephesians 6:1-2 ESV)

God, help me to trust in you. It doesn’t seem right or good to obey or honor them sometimes because I just want to do what I want to do. But even when I think my parents are nuts I know I can trust in your word. I know you have called me to treat my parents this way and I trust you to take care of the rest.

When I want to do my own thing, when I’m getting frustrated, or when it just seems like they are making life hard, help me to turn to you for patience. Help me to obey and honor my parents, because ultimately I know it honors you! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, I’m A Tween, And School Stinks

God, help me with school. Having to go to school every day is boring. My teachers have me do work that will never be useful. Waking up early to go to school is hard too, I just want to sleep. God, can you find a way to get me out of this?

God, even as I pray these words I think about Jesus saying similar things the night he was killed.

He went on a little farther and got down with His face on the ground. He prayed, “My Father, if it can be done, take away what is before Me. Even so, not what I want but what You want.” (Matthew 26:39 NLT)

Jesus, thank you for doing what you didn’t want to do. I know the pain of the cross is way more than the pain of school, and you did it anyway because even though you didn’t want to do it God did.

God, thank you for giving up your son so that messed up people like me could be saved from all we deserve. I know I do not deserve all the many gifts you have given me, but especially the gift of eternal life, that you have freely offered for all those who believe in you.

God, help me to be like Jesus. When I don’t want to do something, like school, help me to turn to you and pray, “Not what I want but what you want”.  I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

God, I’m A Tween, Should I Be Dating?

God, all my friends are starting to date. They all seem to be having fun and that’s all anyone ever wants to talk about. God, should I be dating?

Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. (2 Timothy 2:22 NLT)

It seems like the Bible is telling me to run away from youthful desires to date. So please help me to seek you instead. Help me to live in a way that is right in your eyes God, not my friends. Help me to be faithful to you by reading my Bible.

God, help me instead to be a kind friend to those who are seeking dating relationships apart from you. Help me to love them well and help me to share my decision not to date with peace. God, will you help me find friends who aren’t always talking about dating?

Finally, God, when it is time for me to date will you guide me to the right person and let it be an experience that is healthy and glorifying to you? I pray this all in Jesus’ name, Amen.
