Me and my sister-in-law have a strong and special bond. Both of us have grown to depend on one another. We have been through good and not-so-good times. We’ve shared exciting news, unpleasant news, and even secrets with each other. In a way, my sister-in-law has been like my personal diary.
This close relationship causes one to rejoice when the other is happy and hurt as a result of the other’s pain. Right now, your sister-in-law needs you during a frightening situation, surgery.
It is natural to be anxious and worry about all the things that could go wrong. Our carnal mind will not automatically give thanks to God during trials. We must allow our spirit to take control of our thoughts. The following verse is a great reminder:

I recall when I had to have a major, impromptu surgery. I was in a horrific car accident. I could hear the concerns of my family and friends as I was airlifted to the hospital and rushed in for surgery. Despite the doctor stating how slim my chances were, I could hear my sister-in-law’s praying voice.
Now, your sister-in-law is depending on you, as I depended on mine, to be there for her as she undergoes a scary event in her life. She needs you to pray for her and let words of faith drown out every word that doesn’t align with God’s Word.

Dear God, the doctors have diagnosed my sister-in-law with breast cancer. Lord, my sister-in-law is naturally nervous and frightened about this discovery. The doctors have recommended that my sister-in-law has a mastectomy to remove part of her breasts. My sister-in-law is concerned about the outcome of this procedure and how it will change her body.
Lord, I pray her thoughts about her image do not interfere with her healing or proper treatment. Remind her that she is still “fearfully and wonderfully made” as you have declared in Psalm 139:14.

Final Thoughts
God has promised not to leave us. He is always with us. God cares about every detail of our lives Think about the difficult times that God has brought you out of. Meditate on all of your testimonies. Your sister-in-law might be going through a trial, but she will come out with her own testimony and her faith will be made stronger.
“I will never fail you. I will never abandon you” (Hebrews 13:5).
