11 Passionate Prayers For Victims Of Bullying

Last Updated on October 19, 2023 by Emma

Are you a victim of a bully and looking for prayers to pray?  Do you need to pray about a bullying situation in your life?

No one likes a bully and no one likes to be bullied.  Yet, bullies exist in our lives, unfortunately.  It’s definitely a situation where you need and want to pray.  This is especially true if a relationship goes beyond bullying and becomes more abusive.  And no one wants to be on the receiving end of hatred or violence.

When you’re on the receiving end of a bully’s taunts and actions, it can be very difficult to view that person as another human worthy of God’s grace or love.  You just want it to stop.  You may want to lash out and hurt the bully.  All of these emotions are natural and understandable.

Yet, as followers of God, we are called to a higher way, even when it is difficult.  This doesn’t mean you don’t let someone know, or have the authorities intervene if necessary with the bully.  You don’t have to keep being the victim.

Even the Apostle Paul acknowledged that it can be a challenge to live in peace with each person in our lives:

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone” (Romans 12.18, NIV).

Do you notice the clarifying statements in this verse?

If it is possible helps us grasp that it may not be possible to have peace with the person.  As far as it depends on you means that you can only do what you can do–there is a commitment to try, at least.  It doesn’t mean you have to be best friends with the bully or even be around that person.

Bullies, generally speaking, act the way they do because they feel helpless or they sense a lack of control in some area of their life. So, they take that out on other people. Knowing this can help you see them as a human who needs prayer. You are not likely to be the person who can help them, but your prayers can be a force, as God works in their life.

I didn’t like being bullied when I was younger.  I didn’t like it when my child was bullied.  But I learned (and helped her to grasp) that praying about it helped me get through it.

Let these 11 passionate prayers about bullying be a help to you. Choose the one that fits your circumstance, or you can modify the wording however you need to in order to express what you are feeling.

These prayers are a beginning point for you to take and use in your life.

Short Prayer About Bullying

Dear God, I pray you will protect me from the child at school who is bullying me and others.  We’ve done nothing to them and yet they seem to like making our lives miserable. I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid if I tell a teacher, then this kid will come at me harder. Please help me, Lord.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Prayer For A Child Being Bullied

God, I pray for my child, who told me they are being bullied at school. I don’t know the boy/girl, or his parents, so I don’t have a way to address the problem that way.  My child is terrified of going to the principal and telling them what’s going on.

I understand their fear, but I know that this behavior has to be brought into the open.  A nine-year-old needs to know that their actions will not be tolerated.  I want that child to get the help they need because they clearly are feeling injured in some way.

I also want my own child to be confident and not timid when they go to school and being bullied is making them not want to go to school.  I ask for your guidance and for your help to move any obstacles out of the way in this situation. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Prayer For A Teenager Being Bullied

Dear God, I pray for my friend, who is being bullied in their classroom.  I feel like I need to let their teacher know but my friend doesn’t want me to.  I’m stuck because I know they hate each day because of this bully, but no one sees it happening.

I don’t want to betray my friend’s trust but they can’t handle this on their own.  Someone, an adult, need to know.  Please help me find a way to get my friend the help they need.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For A College Student Being Bullied

God, I thought that when I went to college, I’d get away from bullying because people were older and more mature.  Not the case, apparently.

Some college students on my floor apparently think that I need to be picked on because of how I look.  I’ve let the resident assistant know what they are doing, but he/her wasn’t much help.  I guess I’m going to have to go up the chain of authority until someone listens to me and intervenes.

I’m not putting up with this nonsense.  They need to leave me alone so I can focus on my studies.  They also need to have their behavior checked so they know they can’t keep doing this to me, or to anyone else.

They feel stronger when they gang up on me.  This has to stop.  I pray you give me the determination to see this through and get to the right person.  In the name of Jesus, I plead, Amen.

Prayer For Bullying At Work

Father God, I can’t believe I have to bring this to you in prayer but there’s a bully at work.  They are very subtle, but they are domineering and caustic to everyone around them.  No one will stand up to them because they have a lot of years at the company and our boss thinks they’re great.

I think our boss is simply ignoring the problem and that cannot continue.  Help me find some sort of solution for them to be confronted and their behavior addressed and stopped.

While I don’t want them to lose their job, this bullying cannot continue as it affects too many employees.  We’re going to lose good people if they are not corrected. I lift this prayer to you through Jesus Christ, Amen.

Prayer For Bullying By A Neighbor

God, I need help!  My neighbor is a bully. They make near impossible to be outside and enjoy my yard and my free time because they always want to cut me down about something.

I know their behavior is a result of their insecurity and that they feel badly about themselves in some way.  But that doesn’t mean I want their bullying to continue.  They haven’t made any threats yet, but they are there, underneath the surface.

I can’t call the police yet because they haven’t done anything criminal.  I don’t know what to do at this point, so I pray for guidance and wisdom.  Help me see the solution.  My neighbor needs help in a big way, and I don’t want to keep living like this.  In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

A Brief Prayer To Stop Bullies

God, I want you to stop all bullies.  I didn’t like bullies as a kid and I sure don’t like them now that I’m an adult.  I pray for anything that will help bullies to wake up and stop their behavior.  I pray they will stop.  It’s like more and more bullies are popping up in everyday life and I want it to end.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Prayer For An Adult Being Bullied

God in heaven, I need your help.  I am being bullied and I’m kind of surprised by it. I’m a grown adult and I thought bullying was the behavior of school kids, not adult men and women. This person seems to think it’s their job to make me scared each time I go to the park.

I don’t know if they live nearby or if they just hang out at the park looking for people to bother and bully. But, they see me there, as that is my favorite place to walk.  I guess because I am a regular at the park, they pick on me.  I don’t engage with them and try to ignore them but they don’t want to stop.

I’ve tried going at different times but I only have a few time windows to get my walk in.  They apparently have plenty of free time because they always seem to be there.  I want to call the police because I don’t think their behavior is proper but I’m not sure how to go about it.

Please help me know what to do, and what steps to take.  I pray for this person to stop being a bully!  In the name of Christ I pray, Amen.

Prayer To Stand Up To A Bully

Lord, give me the strength to stand up to a bully in my life.  I don’t want any physical altercation but I need to tell them that they can’t treat me the way they have been treating me.  I need a witness there in case they react in a negative way, which they may well do.

I can’t let them continue to treat me this way.  I will not stand for it.  Give me courage and understanding and watch over me with your protection.  In the name of Jesus, my Savior, I pray, Amen.

A Brief Prayer To Not Be A Bully

God, I am feeling helpless in my current circumstances.  Everything seems stacked against me.  I don’t feel like I have control over major areas of my life.  My emotions are all over the place and I find myself getting angry at other people, some perfect strangers.

Lord, I don’t want to become a bully.  Help me I pray!  Help me deal with my emotions and see your light guiding me to a place of hope.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For The Bully

Dear God, I pray for the bully at my school.  I don’t know why they act the way they do, but nobody likes them or wants to be around them. They must be lonely.  I pray you help them in some way.  Have some adult get in their life to help them or something.

I think they’ll end up killing someone later in life if they don’t stop what they’re doing.  I pray to you about them because my pastor said Jesus told us to love our enemies.  I’m not sure I love that bully, but I know I don’t want to hate them. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Final Thoughts

If you are a victim of bullying, you need to know there are resources to help you.  Besides praying about the bullying that is happening, the best thing you can do is tell someone what is happening.

That may be hard to do, but you can’t keep this in the dark.  You need help and the bully needs help too.  Getting someone else involved can be an act of love, even if you don’t feel love toward the bully right now.

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” ( Matthew 5.43-48, NIV).

While you may have revenge fantasies about how you’d like to get back at the bully, those kinds of thoughts are not healthy for you spiritually, emotionally, or mentally.  Let the wisdom of scripture be your guide here:

Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head” ( Romans 12.19-20, NIV).

Let these prayers be a way for you to deal with what is happening.  And may God guide you to the person or the people who can help you deal with the bully in a productive manner.
