God, thank you for how you’ve grown our business over the years. When we started I wasn’t sure we’d make it, but you have provided for us in so many ways–thank you and praise you!
But now that we’ve been established for several years, we’re facing a slowdown. Our business needs to find more income streams and higher profit margins to step up to the next level. We literally have to break through the current financial eddy and move into the flowing river of increased sales.
I pray for wisdom and insight that I don’t currently have, Lord. Help me to change my perspective in order to view the business from a different angle. I need to see how to keep us moving forward financially and I can’t do that on my own.
I ask all of these things in the name of our Provider, Lord Jesus, Amen.
Boss’s Prayer for Business Breakthrough
Jesus, I need your help. I’ve got responsibility for (number) of employees. They’re looking to me for how we go forward with our business. We desperately need a breakthrough to get us out of the hole we’re in. It’s no one’s fault Lord; it’s just a rough season we’re in right now.
Sales have slowed and the financials for the next quarter look grim. I don’t want to lay off anyone because these folks have been so loyal to organization and are hard workers. Employee’s Prayer for Business Breakthrough
Lord Jesus, I pray for my company. I enjoy working at this business so much! From the people I work with to the encouraging culture in the workplace, it’s a great place to be an employee. Lord, I’d be heartbroken if the company faltered. It seems selfish to pray for success because I benefit by keeping my job, but I’m not the only person who works there, Lord.
So, I pray for a breakthrough to occur this month. It’s mostly above my pay grade but I know enough to know that we are facing a difficult season. No one has been let go yet and I pray that doesn’t happen to me or anyone else. Guide our bosses and the senior staff to make wise decisions, thinking of the long term consequences.
Help us all to work steadily and faithfully in the meantime. Let us all see that each of us plays a role in the overall success of the company. Grant us initiative and drive. Help us all to trust you for our protection and our provision. I make this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Concluding Thoughts
We often can try to separate our lives into silos. There’s work and school and home and church and hobbies, as examples. We can forget that God cares about every aspect of our lives, including the business world. We could be the owner, manager, boss, or employee, but to the God we follow, what we do to earn a living matters.
We don’t need to be shy about sharing our concerns with God about anything in our lives, including our job or workplace. God is with us wherever we go and so it should be natural to include God, through prayer, in our workday world.
Given how much of our day and week and life we spend at work, we should strive to bring God into that time more often. We can thank God for giving us purpose each day–we have something to do! We can also lift the company to God so it continues in profitability and success and influence. We get to be a part of something that’s bigger than just us.
Many aspects of our business will be out of our control. Whether that’s a result of unexpected weather, a change in government, or an event that didn’t go the way we wanted it to, we’re often not in complete control…but God is.
And when our business faces financial struggle or competitive challenges, we should be even more prone to prayer. It’s okay to ask God for a business breakthrough. It’s okay to ask God for business success. It’s proper to ask God to help you be a better, more productive worker.
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Ecclesiastes 9.10a).
Sometime a breakthrough in business comes through hard work and resilience. Sometimes it happens because events out of our control come together at the right time and a positive pathway opens up. Profits increases, sales rise, expenses lower and the breakthrough you prayer for is happening right in front of you.
Whatever happens, you can know that you not only did your part by working effectively in your role. You can rest and be confident that you did your part by praying for the business. Remember, there’s nothing to big or too small to escape the eye of our Almighty God!
