As a law enforcement spouse, I understand the sacrifices that these brave men and women make every day to protect and serve our communities. Recently, my husband’s department lost an officer. The devastation was felt so greatly amongst all. I remember watching my husband cry out in pain on the floor of our bedroom as he wept. The only comfort I could give was to wrap my arms around him and pray over him.
It’s during those times that we turn to God for comfort and strength. One of the verses that has brought me great comfort is Psalm 34:18, which says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” This verse reminds us that even in the darkest of times, God is with us, and he will never leave us or forsake us.
I share this personal experience with you because I want you to know that I understand the depth of the pain and sorrow that comes with losing an officer. My heart goes out to you as you grieve, and I pray that these words will offer you some comfort and solace during this difficult Time.
May the Lord also remind us of his promise in Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
