3 Scripture Centered Prayers For A Future Husband

Last Updated on October 19, 2023 by Emma

Do you remember the first time you dressed up and pretended to be getting married? It’s something that many of us women long for, the beautiful wedding, the awesome guy, and the happily ever after.

We can spend hours pinning our favorite things we want for our wedding. There are endless hours of thinking about the guy we might find one day.

However, God wants us to trust Him for the future.

And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. (Psalm 9:10 ESV)

So we must also trust him for our future husband.

The next few prayers are intended to help you to begin to pray for your future husband. We hope it sparks you to make these prayers your own. Never stop praying for your future husband and trust God more with your future.

If you are in need of prayer for a future wife, you can find this prayer here. Or if you have a son and need some prayers for his future wife, then you can look at this prayer right here.

Short Prayer For A Future Husband

Almighty God, I pray for my future husband. I pray that he waits patiently for me and trusts in your timing. God, help him to learn how to learn to love and lead well. Continue to prepare him for marriage.

God, I pray you to be with him when he is discouraged, and give him hope that can only be found in you. Help him to surrender to you with his life. I pray this all in your precious name, amen.

Prayer For My Future Husband

Almighty God, you know I long to have a husband one day. I thank you for giving me that longing and I pray that I will be a good wife when you give me that opportunity.

At this moment I want to pray for my future husband. I pray that he waits patiently for me. That as we wait on your timing that you begin to prepare him now into the man you want him to be.

God, help him to learn how to love people well, so our relationship can be marked by love. Help him to learn how to lead well, so that our lives honor you.

God, I pray you to be with him when he is discouraged, and give him hope that can only be found in you. When he is nervous about the future that you fill him with your hope.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13 ESV)

God, I pray that if my future husband is not yet a Christian that you humble him to see that he needs you. Help him to see that you are Lord of all and open his eyes so he may repent and believe in the one true God.

Help him to resist the evil schemes of the devil, especially when it comes to things that should be saved for marriage. God, protect him.

God, as he hopes for me, I pray that you continue to make me into a wife that would be pleasing to him but also to you.

I pray this all in your precious name, amen.

Daily Prayer For My Future Husband

Monday

As my future husband wakes up at the beginning of this new work week I pray that you give him the strength he needs for the week. Help him to work hard as if he is working for you.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, (Colossians 3:23 ESV)

Help him to know what it feels like to sacrifice for you and to feel the joy that comes with that. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Tuesday

Lord, cause my future husband to work out his own salvation with fear and trembling. Help him to know that while he seeks you it is ultimately you who is working in him. As you work in him cast out the fears of this world and fill him with your love.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. (1 John 4:18 ESV)

Help him to seek you and be in your will for his life. Give him the boldness to live for You and Your good pleasure. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Wednesday

God, teach him how to rejoice in all things. In the middle of the week, it can feel like a grind and there is no purpose.

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24 ESV)

Help him to see his purpose in You. Lord, let him not be anxious about the future but trust you for it.

Thursday

Lord, when my future husband is anxious, help him turn to you in prayer. Teach him how to cry out to you in prayer for his own desires and for others.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Philippians 4:6 ESV)

Finally, I pray today that you help him to be thankful for all that you have given him. Gracious King, I pray this all in your name, Amen.

Friday

God, I pray you grant my future husband peace today. When there are pressures to be social or go out on a date, give him peace that you are in control. When he is tempted to plan out all his steps, help him to remember it’s you who guides him.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9 ESV)

Guard his heart and mind when he does go on dates, and give him strength to wait for me. Heavenly Father, I pray this through the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Saturday

Father, on Saturdays there is extra time to think. Help him to think only about what honors you.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Philippians 4:8 ESV)

Help him use his extra time on Saturday to be with you. Help him cherish his time in your word and help him to grow in who you want him to be. I pray this in your powerful name, Amen.

Sunday

Father, I pray you wake my husband up and give him the joy and excitement to go to church.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,  not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV)

I pray that you surround him with godly men that can teach him how to be a husband to me one day, but ultimately how to live in a way that honors you. I pray this in Jesus’ name Amen.

How To Pray For My Future Husband

First, remember that God is omnipresent, which means he is always present and not restrained by time. So he already knows if you will get married and to whom you will marry. This should give you confidence to come to Him as you pray for your future husband.

Second, God calls us to pray. He wants to hear from you. So just begin talking to God. Prayer is simply a conversation with God. However, remember who God is and come to him in reverence and a humble heart. He longs to have a relationship with you but it is important we do that in a way that honors Him.

Third, pray for your husband out of scripture, which means you need to open your Bible and start reading God’s word. This will be so good for your relationship with God because this is how He speaks to us. It will also help you pray for your husband because you are no longer just praying what you would like (tall, dark and handsome, or whatever you may like). You begin to pray for what God wants in your future husband.

You might pray that he loves God. This is one of the most important things that you can pray for because if he loves God then all of the following prayers will follow in your future husband’s life.

If you are getting into God’s word more, you will begin to love God’s word and want a husband that does too. So begin to pray that your husband will love God’s word. Also pray that he will not drift from God, but that he will become close to God.

You could pray that he loves you well. This is not a prayer for him to be romantic but rather look at what scripture says about how a husband should love a wife (Ephesians 5:25) and pray that he would have these qualities.

Other prayers you could pray for are his character traits such as his desire to be pure, lead well, and love others.

It doesn’t have to be a laid-out prayer, and it doesn’t have to be every day, but simply just start praying, getting into God’s word, and trusting God already has a great plan for you, you can rest in that.

Closing Thoughts

We truly hope that these prayers will give you the strength to wait patiently for your future husband. We hope that your parents will also pray with you and give you the courage you need.

As your trust in God becomes more strong, your faith will deepen and increase. You can trust that though His life you will find your future husband and we pray he reflects this light as you do!
