Dear God, I can honestly give thanks this holiday that my dad is in heaven with you. Of course, I miss him so very much, as does the whole family. Yet, I know that during this Thanksgiving week, each day will be a chance to say a prayer of thanks for his faithful life as a follower of Jesus.
I pray for all of us, that we can keep that truth before us as we cook and eat and relax together during Thanksgiving, remembering our father well. We miss him and want to keep his love deep within us on a daily basis.
I take comfort in the promises of scripture that he is without pain, is not mourning, and is full of the joy that comes from seeing God face-to-face, in all of God’s glory. Thank you for that hope! I pray all of these things through the name of Jesus, Amen.

God, I ask for special strength today, as we remember dad on the anniversary of his death. “Death anniversary” are weird words to put together, but we are wanting to mark this day in a special way.
May we remember the best of who he was for us all, which can give us comfort and good thoughts. May we keep in the forefront of our thoughts that he is together with you in heaven and that can give us peace and hope. And, may we accept the reality that he is not here, but that his memory is always with us.

Lord God, today would have been my dad’s (birthday number) birthday and it is a bittersweet day. While he wasn’t big on the whole party and cake and candles stuff, he did enjoy getting presents and cards from everyone. Today is going to be a very different kind of day and I ask for strength to make it through.
This will be a celebration of the influence of his life, as we honor the truth that he is with you. We’re still going to have a cake for him and blow out the candles as a way to remember him on this special day. Thank you for your grace to help us grieve him well, and also continue to live by your strength.
We’re always going to miss him, but I hope that in prayers like this, we can still know that his love is within us, even as he is with you in heaven, worshiping around the throne of God. I pray all of this in the matchless name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For Dad In Heaven On His Wedding Anniversary
God, this will be the first wedding anniversary my mom will have since my dad died, so it will be a challenging time. We’re not going to make a big deal about it all, but we will gather together, both to remember him, and to help her on this tender day.
I pray especially for my mother, as she is without her lifelong partner. We are glad that he had a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and is in heaven with you right now. That gives us all a measure of peace, even as we are feeling the pain of his tangible absence from our lives.
I hope and trust that dad is dancing around, singing praise to God right now, full of the presence of the Lord. Help us all to give one another special grace as we both celebrate what he meant to us on this special day, as well as grieve his passing. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
