School orientation marks the beginning of a new chapter in a many people’s lives. For students it can be the perfect time to start over in a new environment, or pick up a new hobby. For parents it marks your child getting another year older, and exploring their new growth.
Whether you are a parent trying to establish new boundaries or a student trying to find your new place in school, I pray you know God is with you. Isiah 41:10 reads “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Prayer for Parents During Elementary School Orientation:
Dear Lord, we come to you today to ask for your blessing on the upcoming school year. Lord, you have brought a new set of kindergarten parents into our community and we ask you to help us welcome them.
Father, we know that beginning the elementary school journey can be stressful. Lord, we ask that you guide these new kindergarten parents. Allow them peace of mind through this new school transition.
Father, we ask for each parent to be granted peace of mind as they tour our school. Grant them a sense of ease as they become familiar with their child’s classroom. Help them feel at home here, Lord.
Lord, we ask that you open a line of communication between parents, teachers, and administrators. Help us hear each other’s concerns with an open heart. Allow us Lord, to work together as a team to provide the best environment for each child. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Prayers for Parents During Middle School Orientation:
Heavenly Father, today we are meeting as a group to discuss the transition from elementary school into middle school. Lord we ask that you help us welcome these parents into our school family.
Allow us to use this orientation to answer any and all of these parent’s questions, Lord. Please help our tour give a sense of direction on the first day of school, Father. Allow these parents to know how to help their child go in the right direction.
Father, help us assist these parents with navigating changes that are coming to their children. Lord, help us explain the given schedule options. Allow us to give the best insights we can provide for each class. Give these parents the ability to guide their child on their educational journey.
Lord, we ask that you give each parent the ability to navigate their child’s emotions. Help them work together to acknowledge the changes happening during these next couple of months. Please give these parents the words to help their children through this transition. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Prayers for Parents During High School Orientation:
Dear Lord, we ask you to watch over the parents of the upcoming freshman class at our high school. Lord, we know these next four years will be filled with give and take. We ask that you bless each family with the patience needed to succeed.
Father, allow us to explain all of our policies with complete understanding. Lord, we ask that you encourage each family to ask questions if something does not make sense. Help us work together Lord, to ensure that our policies are in line with your guidance.
Father, we ask that you allow the parents to get a sense of security during our time together today. Help them see where their child will be throughout the day. Allow them the peace of mind, to know their children are safe here. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Prayers for Parents During College Orientation:
Heavenly Father, we are here today with parents of children about to become adults. We pray for them, Lord, as they embark on the sensitive feelings of sending their child to school.
Lord, allow each parent the peace of mind to know they have raised an individual who can handle themselves. Give them the courage to let their child thrive on their own.
Father help us answer all of these parent’s questions. Help us give them peace of mind; allow them to know that their child is going to be in a safe place, getting a great education.
Lord, allow us to properly explain financial aid responsibilities with these parents. We know this can be a stressful and large commitment. Allow us make some sense out of all this paper work. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Dear Lord, today these students are gathering together to learn about their next adventure. Lord, help each student come into this with a positive mind set. Help them thrive in the halls of this school.
Father, we ask that you watch over us as we walk together these next few years. Thank you for always being by their side, Lord, and for guiding each student in your direction. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Prayers for Students During Preschool Orientation:
Heavenly Father, you have brought these little ones to us and we thank you for the opportunity to help them grow.
Lord we ask that you hold each child close to your heart. We know this transition can be a little rocky, and we want them to feel your loving embrace. Lord, help each teacher be your embrace for these preschoolers.
Father, we ask that you allow each little voice the strength to express themselves. Help us know what each student needs so we can best teach them.
Lord, give each student the confidence to make friends. Allow them the opportunity to let their personalities shine through, Lord. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Dear Lord, we are so thankful for these future kindergartners. Help them feel welcomed at their new school, Lord.
Father we ask that you use this opportunity to allow each student to meet their teachers and become comfortable with their classrooms. Lord, please allow each child the opportunity to ask any questions that may come to mind. Give each child the confidence to raise their hands and ask their questions, Lord.
Father we ask that you allow the school tour to build a knowledge of direction in each child. We ask that you guide them on their first day of school, Lord. Help them know how to get to their classrooms with ease.
Father we ask that you help each new student shine. Allow them all to make friends, Lord. Help each kindergartner to love one another, just like you love us. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Prayers for Students During Middle School Orientation:
Dear Lord, you have brought us together today to celebrate a new year at this middle school and to welcome a new class of students.
Lord, we ask you to bless each student with a sense of calmness as they enter a new type of schedule. Help them be confident in their day-to-day classes, Lord. Allow each student to pick up the hourly periods with ease.
Father, allow this time of touring to stick in each student’s mind. Give them peace to know how to find their classes and open their lockers, Lord. Please remind them to ask a teacher if they get turned around.
Father we ask that as we join many elementary schools together, each student is open to making new friends. Lord, help each student be welcoming and accepting of each person they meet. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Prayers for Students During Freshman Orientation:
Dear Father, help us welcome these freshmen to our school. We know you have guided them this far, Father, and we ask for your continued guidance over the next four years.
Lord, we ask for you to sit with each student during their time here. Help them each remember the importance of these next few years; and remind them of your vision for them, Lord. Allow them grace and a push in the right direction if they stray from your path, Lord.
Father, we ask that each student use this orientation as a way to ask questions. Lord, help these students get familiar with their new settings. We ask that each student use this time to get to know their home room teachers, Lord. Please allow each student to be open to letting their teachers get to know them as well.
Father, we ask that these freshmen be a prime example of your love and grace. Help them shine bright in our school, Lord. Allow them to be representatives of how to be a leader. Lord, allow them the ability to show others how to serve you. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Prayers for Students During College Orientation:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for blessing each student with the ability to be here. Lord we know how hard each one of them has worked to get here, and we want to acknowledge that all glory goes to you for this blessing.
Lord, we ask that you use the getting to know you sessions as a way to help these students bond together. Allow them to open up, Lord. Show these students that college is a place to shine with the ability to be your best self, Lord.
Father, we ask that you use the information session to prepare these students for what lies ahead of them. Lord, help them get a sense of what their expectations will be. Please allow them to meet these expectations with confidence, Lord.
Father we ask that you help them get every ounce of knowledge they can from their advising session. Give them the opportunities to ask questions, Lord. Allow them the space to think through which path they have chosen to go down. Father, help them ask you for guidance and push them to come to their advisors with any thoughts.
Lord, help these young adults make good choices. Remind them of your guidance and expectations, Lord. Remind them that they are being given a great opportunity, and that schooling should always come first here. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Concluding Thoughts:
Psalm 20:4 reads “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.” I pray that your family succeeds in each school opportunity you are given. I truly believe the Lord gives us desires and I hope you are given the desire to succeed in education.
I pray that each student is filled with excitement for a new opportunity, and I pray each parent is filled with confidence in their child’s ability to conquer their new school. God will be with you the entire way whether it’s time for preschool graduation or simply the strength to work hard and get good grades. God will be watching not only parents and students but also faculty and school board members too.
