5 Powerful Prayers To Remove Bad Luck

Last Updated on December 2, 2023 by Emma

Are you feeling like nothing is going your way? Every time you turn around are you greeted with more bad news? Does it seem like you have the worst luck in the world?

We have all had seasons of life like this. It seems as if we have bad luck and you may be looking for prayers to reverse that luck.

We often hear people attributing unfortunate events in their life to bad luck, even Christians will comment about how lucky someone is or how bad luck has affected that person.

However, when we look closely at scripture we see God is in control of all things and luck has no place in our Christian vocabulary.

These prayers will guide you to a God who cares deeply about you and the situation you are in. The Bible speaks about a God who is sovereign over all and desires for you to come to Him with all your needs.

Please feel free to comment below and share what we can be praying about.

Short Prayer To Remove Bad Luck

God, I feel like I have bad luck but I know you are sovereign over everything in this world.

Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases.  (Psalm 115:3 ESV)

God, help me to not be like this world and think that these hard circumstances are simply because of luck. Help me to speak about all of this in a way that honors your love for me and your control in my life.

God, I know you work out well for all those who love you. (Romans 8:28 ESV) So, Lord, I pray that even when I don’t understand what is going on you give me peace that you are in control.

God, I pray that if my bad circumstances are because of sin in my life you reveal that to me so I can repent. If these bad circumstances are part of the evil one’s attack on my life I pray that you stop the devil in his tracks and rid this pain from my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer That God Will Give Me Rest From The Bad Situations In My Life

God, I know you are sovereign over all things and nothing escapes your notice. It feels like I have bad luck but I know that nothing escapes your control so I pray that you give me rest in this season.

You can see how hard my life has been recently. I pray you allow this hard season to end and restore me.

God, you are sovereign over the birds (Matthew 6:26 ESV) and the weather (Matthew 5:45). God, your word exclaims the extent of your control when it says you even control the role of the dice (Proverbs 16:33 ESV). So I know that everything that has come to pass in my life has been in your control.

Lord, one of the things I am most thankful for you being sovereign over is my salvation. (Ephesians 1 ESV). You chose me, called me, allowed me to see the truth of who Christ is, and extended your grace to me. When I think about how you are sovereign over this I can rest in you.

Even though I know you are sovereign over all I’m tired of this hard season in my life. Will you please give me rest? Remove these trials from my life and allow me to live in peace.

God, you are the God of peace, so I pray you to teach me how to rest in you today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Understanding During The Hard Circumstances Of My Life

Almighty God, my life is so hard right now and I feel like I have bad luck. But I know you are in control so I pray now that you give me understanding in this season to see how you are working.

God, I think about Job when I go through these hard circumstances. His friends did not know you and must have thought that Job had such bad luck, (Job 8 ESV). Job experienced horrific life events where he lost everything that he cared about. Yet He never stopped believing in you and your goodness, (Job 9 ESV).

Job never knew what was going on, or why he was experiencing those things. I pray I continue to have faith in the hard times just like Job did. Even when I don’t understand I pray that you give me comfort that you are in control.

However, God, if it is your will I would love to see and understand what you are doing in my life. I know I cannot attribute it to just bad luck because you are in control. I know you have a purpose for everything you do, even if I don’t understand.

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21 ESV)

God, I sometimes want to be in control and when I don’t get what I want it feels like bad luck. Help me to see that even if I plan your purposes will still stand, so help me to align my heart to yours. Help me to understand what your plans are so I can join in with you.

I pray that if my bad circumstances are from a misunderstanding in a relationship I have that you will guide me to understand what is going on so you can help me restore that relationship.

God,  if these hard events in life are due to the devil’s schemes, I pray that you reverse his plans. I know there is a spiritual battle going on. I surrender to your lordship. Please protect me from the devil’s schemes.

Finally God I ask that you give me the strength to continue to walk in faith even when I don’t understand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For Hope During Times When Things Don’t Feel Right

God, when it feels like I just have bad luck and everything doesn’t feel right, help me to see that nothing on this earth can rescue me, only you can.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 ESV)

You promise to be sufficient in my weakness. So when things aren’t going the way I wanted and I feel weak, please help me to see your sufficiency. You give me the grace I need.

Kind and Gracious Father, when things aren’t going my way, help me to speak about it in a way that honors you, rather than attributing it to just bad luck. Help me to use words that honor you and attribute my life to your providence and sovereignty over my life.

God, if this bad circumstance I’m in is leading towards my death. Help me to have hope even when the worst seems in front of me. Give me hope even as I accept death.

God, give me hope that you are in control, even of the bad things, when it feels like I have bad luck. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer For My Growth During Hard Times

God, we all have hard times. Moments in life where it just seems like nothing is going our way. The world would say it’s ‘bad luck’. But God, I know you are in control so I come to you now asking that you help me grow during this hard time.

God, I pray that you give me hope to see that even in these hard times you are working in me. You are helping me to grow and to be more like you. Help me to not resist areas where you are calling me to repent and turn from my sin.

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

God, you give us the story of Paul and the suffering he experienced. He even recounts a constant thorn in his side, (2 Corinthians 12:7 ESV). But this is not something that holds him back. Help me not let this hard season of life hold me back but even during this season help me to find ways to share your good news.

Help me to grow, help me to be humbled as I recognize your power in my life. I pray this in your mighty name, Amen.

Closing Thoughts

Sometimes we are tempted to think about life in ways of good luck and bad luck. We can even do this as Christians, we think that bad things happened because ‘I didn’t read my Bible’ or pray this morning. We become more concerned about our Christian routines than reverence behavior before God.

We are prone to this because we are human. It makes us feel like we are in control. We think we can work our way out of the ‘bad luck’ in our lives.

We have such a greater hope, and it’s something we cannot earn. Our hope is in Christ alone! He is the one who has given us the greatest blessing, adopting us as his own, and has redeemed us. God wants us to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and save us from our sinful lives.

This doesn’t mean we won’t have any more bad days, but God is worthy of our commitment to Him. We may be tempted to pray to get rid of the bad luck in our lives but instead, you can lean on the true and everlasting security of Jesus.

So today instead of praying for bad luck to leave, turn all your burdens and cares over to a God who already destroyed your biggest burden, sin. He rescued you from the debt of your sins, which you could never repay.

We want to come alongside you and pray during your hard times. If you will comment below with a specific way we can pray for you, we would to pray for you.
