Do you have allergies and want to pray about them? Are your allergies overwhelming your life and do you need God’s help with them?
You may have one of the many common allergies, and have to find some way to live with the allergy. It can be annoying, inconvenient, and in some cases, life-threatening.
I have seasonal allergies myself and I can always tell when it’s time to start my allergy medication–one day I just start sneezing for no reason!
If you need to pray about other health concerns, you can discover prayers for arthritis, prayers regarding back surgery, or even mental health.
Allergies may not strike you as something to pray about, but Jesus’ own ministry shows us that God is interested in all of our health and all parts of our life:
“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them” ( Matthew 4.23-24, NIV).
It didn’t matter what people were dealing with, Jesus went about healing them. This means that your allergies are worthy of God’s attention. While God may not deliver you from having an allergy, God can give you trust, strength, and patience to live with it in a good manner.
Let these 15 prayers for different allergies be a way for you to bring your concerns to God. I tried to cover the most common allergies people deal with, but if your specific allergy is not here, don’t worry. You can modify any of these prayers to fit your situation.

Short Prayer For Allergies
Dear Lord, I need relief from my allergies. I can’t see straight, my nose is constantly runny, and I seem to sneeze about every other minute! I’ve tried different over-the-counter medicines but none of them seem to make a dent. Please help me find a good allergy doctor who can get me the help I need. Thank you for hearing my prayer, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For A Peanut Allergy
Dear Lord, I thank you for all that I am and that I was diagnosed with a peanut allergy very early in life. That knowledge has saved my life more than once. While I don’t like having the allergy because I’ll never get to enjoy a Reese’s cup or a PB&J sandwich like almost everyone else, I enjoy being alive more.
As I have been open about my allergy, I’ve discovered that people also become aware on my behalf and help to look out for me. They ask me, and now others, about any food allergies they may have. No one wants to have the food they make or bring to an event to cause someone to get really sick or die.
Thank you for giving me the strength and patience to deal with this allergy. Thank you also for helping be able to use it as a way of educating other people about peanut allergies, but also food allergies in general. Help keep me safe moving forward. In the name of Jesus, I make this prayer, Amen.
Prayer For Being Allergic To Dogs
Lord, I am so sad because I can’t be around dogs anymore. Somehow I now have a pretty bad reaction to dog hair. I don’t really understand how I wasn’t allergic before but now I am. Whatever the cause, I will miss petting and loving those delightful fur babies.
Help me to be cautious as I continue forward. The doctor told me it was not life-threatening or anything, but the allergic reaction was severe enough to knock me out of public circulation for a day. My eyes were swollen and my breathing changed.
I know I can trust you to help me navigate all of this and still have a meaningful life. Help me, Lord. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Prayer For Being Allergic To Cats
Dear God, I confess I have not really liked cats much to begin with, but after visiting a friend of mine who has two cats, I now understand why. I was embarrassed because I had to leave her house in a hurry, after only being there about ten minutes or so.
My nose was running like a faucet and my eyes were itching something fierce. I had to get out of there. My doctor confirmed for me that I am allergic to cat dander in a major way. I’m sad that I won’t be able to visit my friend at her house anymore, but at least I know what the problem is.
Thank you that I was able to get good care quickly. Help me to learn how to live with this allergy in a positive way. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Prayer For A Gluten Allergy
Dear God, give me patience. I have told a group of friends that I have a gluten allergy and they have kind of blown it off, like I’m using it as some excuse to just do a fad diet or something. Help me to explain to them that my allergy is serious and causes me severe pain if I eat the wrong food.
I don’t want to preach to them but I do need them to have some empathy for me and my condition. I didn’t choose this. I would love to eat biscuits and pizza and all the other wonderful things that have gluten but I can’t. Please help them to see me and my allergy for the reality that it is. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Prayer For A Dairy Allergy
God in heaven, I am so upset right now. After a lifetime of eating ice cream and cheese and having milk with my cereal each morning, I now am getting sick whenever I eat any dairy products. I don’t understand what is going on.
My doctor said I probably have developed an allergy to lactose, but she wants me to come in for some testing to really diagnose it. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I guess there are lactose-free products out there? I don’t really know because I never had to deal with it.
Now I guess I do. Help me to understand and handle this new situation in my life. Help me Jesus I pray, Amen.
Prayer For A Shellfish Allergy
Dear God, I just had a scary experience at a seafood restaurant last week and haven’t been settled down enough to pray about it until now. I was out with friends and decided to try shrimp for the first time. I took one bite and my body started shutting down.
Thankfully, the EMTs were called and arrived very quickly. I now know I have a severe shellfish allergy. I give you thanks I discovered this in a restaurant close to a hospital and not on some isolated beach somewhere.
I just never knew I could die from eating a specific type of food! The doctors told me I have to stay away from lobster, shrimp, crab, clams, and pretty much all seafood that comes from a shell of any kind.
Thank you for keeping me alive, Lord! Help me to be vigilant as I eat in the future. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Prayer For Hay Fever Allergies
God, it must be May because I have started to sneeze again. I’m out of my allergy medicine so please help me get through this day with this hay fever allergy until I can get to the store and get the medicine.
I’m going to try and stay indoors as much as possible, but when this seasonal allergy hits, it doesn’t matter where I am, my eyes itch and I sneeze and sneeze and sneeze. Give me patience until I can get relief. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Prayer About Being Allergic To Grass
Dear Lord, I am staring at my arm right now as I sit in my doctor’s office. She gave me a specific allergy test for grass and the spot she tested has a welt the size of a half dollar and it’s starting to wind its way up my arm. I’m not afraid of anything as she is right here with me and is about to administer the proper medicine.
I just am overwhelmed by just how allergic to grass I am. I guess I will have to wear a mask and make sure to take the proper allergy medicine every time I mow my yard because that is some kind of reaction!
I ask for your help so I can deal with this and not forget my medicine or stuff like that. I’m glad I was able to find out what was causing all of my problems with the outside world! Thank you for hearing my prayer through Jesus, Amen.
Prayer For A Skin Allergy
Dear Father God, I have wondered about these spots on my skin for a while now and finally went to the dermatologist. I now know that I have a skin allergy, most likely eczema.
There’s treatment for it, and I thank you for the news that it is treatable. I wish I had known sooner so I didn’t feel as self-conscious about it. But now I know so I can deal with it and help educate others about it as well. Thank you for taking care of me Lord. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Prayer About Being Allergic To Pollen
God, everything on my head itches it seems like. My eyes, ears, and nose are all itchy and my nose is runny. I just took a walk outside so I’m pretty sure I had an allergic reaction to something out there.
As I talked to my doctor on the phone, he suggested it’s probably pollen, which is very high right now in my area. I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor to help me find out exactly what is going on. Please help me get to that appointment without too much more physical problems. I just want to know what it is, so we can treat it.
I love to be outside but I don’t want to go through what I am now every time I go for a walk. Help us find what is going on, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer About Being Allergic To Trees
Dear Lord, it is so weird to me that I love to be in the forest, among the trees, and receive such peace when I am there, but I am also allergic to certain trees, especially pine trees.
I am thankful for your provision so I could get allergy tested and discover this allergy. It has helped me to get the proper medicine so I can still enjoy the forest. It has also helped me to use different landscaping mulch and not pine straw.
While I may not like it, you have given me a way to deal with it, and for that I’m glad. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
Prayer About Being Allergic To Bee Stings
God, I am allergic to bee stings and now there are a lot of bees outside near my patio. Help me to find some way to get rid of them and still be safe. I can’t get stung or I will have a major reaction.
I wish I wasn’t allergic but I am and I have to deal with it. Help me find a solution to this situation. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Prayer For A Mold Allergy
God, only in my world does this happen! I apparently have an allergy to mold. And if it wasn’t for the water problem in my basement I wouldn’t have known that. I really wish I didn’t have to deal with this weird allergy on top of everything else I have right now, but I guess it’s better to know than not know.
Help me to deal with all of this, Lord. I trust you to guide me to the proper doctors and medicine to deal with this allergy. Hear my prayer in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer About Getting Allergy Testing
Dear God in heaven, I have to go get allergy testing tomorrow and I am a little nervous about it. I know I need to have it to narrow down why I am sneezing and have itchy eyes all the time, but from what I’ve read about it, it’s going to be really annoying.
My doctor said they will put a little bit of allergen in my skin to see what I react to, but I can’t itch it or anything. I have to let it react in my body. They are testing for a whole range of allergens so the testing will take more than an hour. I know it’s in a controlled environment, but I’m not sure I can handle all of that.
Please help me to trust the medical people who know what they are doing–they specialize in this. Help me to endure the procedure so they can isolate my allergies and then treat them. Hopefully, this will make my life more manageable. That’s what I’m hoping and praying for. I pray this in the name of Jesus, my Savior, Amen.
Concluding Thoughts
I don’t like having the allergies I have. I wish I didn’t have the reactions I have. But I do have them. If you have some type of allergy, you probably don’t like it either.
But, in the midst of the annoyance or inconvenience of an allergy, we can place our hope and trust in God that God is working through us in all of it.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3.5 , NIV ).
We can lean into God through prayer about our allergies and trust that God will give us what we need to face the situation with grace and strength.
