Stomach cancer, when caught early, can be a very treatable cancer. However, often times it has already spread through the stomach wall and metastasized to other parts of the body. This cancer is less curable. No matter what stage of cancer you or your loved one have it’s important to pray for all those suffering from stomach cancer.
Getting a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming and scary. When we first got my mom’s breast cancer diagnosis, we were spiraling down a hole of worst case scenarios. It’s important to stay in the moment and stay grounded when you are faced with a difficult diagnosis such as stomach cancer.
The best thing you can do when you or a loved one is diagnosed with stomach cancer (besides seeing a doctor) is to turn to the Lord in prayer. He never fails us. He will be supporting you every step of your stomach cancer journey.
When you are struggling with your stomach cancer journey, may you remember these words from Scripture, “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago” (Isaiah 25:1, NIV).

Short Prayer For Stomach Cancer
Lord, I lift up all those who are struggling with stomach cancer. There’s a lot of unknown that comes with this diagnosis. The patients will suffer immensely. We can only hope that you heal them completely and give them the grace and strength to use this time as an opportunity to grow as a disciple and glorify You, In Your Name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer For Stomach Cancer Surgery
Lord, I pray for all those having stomach cancer surgery. Surgeries can have all sorts of complications so please protect each patient.
All surgeries are somewhat dangerous so there are plenty of ways the surgery could go awry. Help the patients to surrender their fears and worries to You and lay them at the foot of the cross. Cancer causes an unbelievable amount of stress. If the patients feel like they can’t handle the stress of the surgery help them to remember they must cast their burdens onto you because they cannot do this alone.
God, please give the doctors wisdom as they perform this surgery. I know they have done this before and will do the best they can to make this surgery a success. Please bless their hands so they can work quickly and accurately.
Please help this to be just a routine surgery and to go smoothly. Help each patient to be calm and courageous. May they cling to the words from the Scriptures, “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord” (Psalm 31:24, NIV).
If something goes wrong during the surgery, please give the doctors wisdom to know how to handle it. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer For Stomach Cancer Treatment
Lord, please be there for all those going through stomach cancer treatments. These will be very difficult and I know they can’t do it alone. Chemotherapy is a daunting experience. Patients might be worried about the harsh chemicals and losing their hair.
Reassure them, O Lord, that no fear or desire is too small for You. Show them they are so loved and worthy of all of your attention. No matter how small their fear is. Draw them close to your sacred heart.
Please give them the strength and courage they need to get through the treatments. The best thing that they can do is to just rest in You. You breathe life into us all and refresh our souls. The sufferings of this treatment are only a small sliver of the pain your Son went through so that we could live our lives freely. Help them to unite their sufferings to the cross. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer For A Parent With Stomach Cancer
Lord, my (dad/mom) mom has stomach cancer. I’m very nervous and overwhelmed, but I trust in You and Your will, which I know may not be what I want.
Wrap your loving arms around my (dad/mom) as (he/she) comes to terms with (his/her) diagnosis and treatment. Help (him/her) to feel safe and loved by You during this awful time.
The treatments can be difficult and painful so please give (him/her) the strength to endure this difficult cross. Help (dad/mom) to look to Your Son as an example of bearing suffering.

Lord, my spouse has stomach cancer. I come to you humbly and broken. I never thought this would happen to (name). It’s not something I thought I would have to watch my (husband/wife) live through.
Please heal (him/her) of this cancer. Help me to confidently put my trust in you. Wrap your loving arms around (name) as (he/she) comes to terms with (his/her) diagnosis and treatment. Help (name) to feel safe and loved by You during this difficult time.

Prayer For Medical Professionals Trying To Treat Stomach Cancer
Lord, I lift up all medical professionals who are working with colon cancer. This cannot be an easy job and so I thank you for those who have chosen this path. May You guide the hands of the medical professionals who are performing surgeries today.
For the medical professionals who are delivering bad news today, may their words be soft, comforting, and loving. It’s very challenging to have a doctor who has poor bedside manners so please help these doctors so that their patients can feel seen, heard, and cared for by their doctors and nurses.
Lord, give the doctors the wisdom and knowledge for coming up with treatment plans for their patients. Give them confidence as they work towards saving more lives. Protect their hearts and minds so that they may not listen to the evil one. They see and hear difficult things each day.
Help them to know what they are doing is glorifying You and building up the kingdom. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer For Stomach Cancer Survivors
Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Thank you for curing this stomach cancer! I know You are a miracle worker so I knew if it was Your will that You would heal me.
I can’t help but have a little bit of anxiety that cancer might come back. They said that if this cancer comes back it will be worse and fiercer than ever. Please put these worries at bay and protect me so I can be cancer free for the rest of my days!
You helped me to not have to suffer through this alone. I know you were walking with me every step of the way.
Thank you for all the ways You showed up for me during this journey. Help me to use this life that you have allowed me to keep living for the purpose of building up your kingdom. May my story and experience be helpful to others who are going through stomach cancer and a witness to others of your healing power. In Your Name, I pray. Amen.
Concluding Thoughts
When you or someone you love has stomach cancer it can be emotionally and physically draining. When you first learn the results of your biopsy or other diagnostics you might be afraid or turn away from God. The enemy wants us to wallow in those emotions, but God invites us to rely on Him.
The Lord will guide You on this journey. He will teach you more about yourself and your calling as a disciple if you are able to use this suffering as an opportunity to lean into Him.
